About Jorly

Hi all! I am a Bachelor's degree certified RN with several years of experience tutoring students in all nursing courses as well as the new generation NCLEX-RN. As a nurse, I have worked in several different roles which include being a vent/trach nurse, wound care, floor nursing as well as a community health/wellness nurse. I currently work at a Sub-Acute Rehab Facility where I am able to apply my nursing skills to promote and maintain the health of my patients. I truly enjoy teaching students and tutoring gives me the opportunity to do that without the full-time commitment of an actual teaching job. The best part about tutoring is when "it clicks". When students realize that they finally understand a topic or disease process that they have been struggling to learn. Also, when students tell me they utilized the strategies learned during the session and applied it in on their exams or on the NCLEX.

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My interest in nursing developed early on, but my passion for tutoring came when I saw how many students were struggling with ATI, HESI, and especially the NCLEX—despite using top resources like UWorld or Archer. I started helping peers during school and realized that many students didn’t need more content—they needed clarity, strategy, and support. That’s when tutoring became my mission.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

specialize in nursing education and NCLEX prep—both RN and LPN. I cover a wide range of topics including Medical-Surgical, Pharmacology, Dosage Calculations, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, and Critical Care. I particularly enjoy helping students master prioritization, delegation, and case study questions, which are key to passing the new-generation NCLEX. Topics that are heavy on memorization without clinical application are less enjoyable, but I use strategies to make them easier to retain.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you

Yes, my sibling has been a huge role model for me to help me think outside of the box when it comes to addressing challenges whether that's in life, or in education.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor needs to be patient, adaptable, and honest. You have to assess where students are academically, meet them there, and guide them step-by-step. It’s not just about teaching content—it’s about teaching how to learn and apply that content, especially in high-pressure exam situations.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One of my students came to me after failing the NCLEX multiple times and feeling hopeless, despite using all the big-name resources. After just a few sessions focused on prioritization, breaking down case studies, and reviewing content by body system, she passed. She told me, "You explained it in a way no one else ever did." That’s the power of personalized tutoring.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still face in your subject?

The biggest challenge is helping students who are burned out and filled with self-doubt. Many of them feel like they’ve "tried everything" and still aren’t getting results. My role is to rebuild their confidence while giving them the tools and structure they need to finally succeed. I also feel that many students think that taking notes and answering test bank questions is enough to get them through nursing school, but soon realize that they are not passing.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My passion is helping future nurses succeed—not just academically, but emotionally. I love seeing students who once thought they couldn’t pass finally walk into the NCLEX with confidence and come out victorious. It’s about more than content—it’s about empowerment.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview question :-P)?

I’m a Superprof because I go beyond generic explanations and tailor every session to the student’s unique learning style and weak areas. I don’t just review content—I teach how to think like a nurse and pass the NCLEX with strategy and confidence. Most importantly, I help students finally say, “It clicked.”
