About Sam
Sam McCarthy is a Professional Drummer based out of New York City. Hailing from Kingston, Rhode Island, and having studied from jazz greats such as Neal Smith, Billy Kilson, Francisco Mela, and Kris Davis Sam has developed his own unique style and approach to the drums. As a young performer and up and coming musician, Sam has performed for audiences throughout the U.S. and Europe. He has also performed at the Newport Jazz Festival as well as Wally’s Jazz Cafe and Club in Boston and 38Riv, in Paris, France. Drawing upon many stylistic influences from Jazz, Classical, RnB, Rock, and Hip Hop, Sam melds these different styles into his own playing. Sam integrates a unique style where rhythmic expansion and musical support are key. Sam currently lives in New York City where he is pursuing his own growth and musicality behind the drum set.
