About Kirsten
I am an Australian composer, conductor, and orchestrator based in Paris, with an international career in concert, opera, and interdisciplinary projects. My compositional practice treats music as a sculptural form, shaping sound and perception with particular attention to timbre, texture, and structure. I have worked with leading ensembles and orchestras in Europe and Australia, and my works have been performed at major festivals and recorded internationally.
Alongside my creative work, I am passionate about teaching composition, orchestration, and rehearsal technique. I draw on my training at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, IRCAM, and the École Normale de Musique de Paris to support students, from beginners to advanced composers, in developing technical skills, their musical voice, and artistic confidence. My approach combines creativity, rigor, and professional experience to help each student express their music with clarity and precision.

I offer lessons in composition and orchestration for all levels. My approach combines technical skill, creativity, and personal expression to help each student develop their unique musical voice. Drawing on my international experience as a composer and conductor, I create concise, relevant lesson plans tailored to each student. I also guide students in rehearsal technique, essential for preparing and conducting works effectively. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced composer, I support you in exploring musical structures, harmony, orchestration, and contemporary practices.
