About Trixie
Hi! I’m Trixie, a Year 12 student who genuinely loves French and enjoys helping others learn it too.
I’ve studied French for almost four years through the NCEA curriculum. Last year, I achieved Excellence in all four language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) in NCEA Level 1. Outside of school, I’ve also passed both the DELF A1 and A2 international French exams, scoring over 92% in each.
For me, I was naturally better at reading and writing than listening and speaking. This didn’t last long, though, as I started regularly speaking French with my dad, who is fluent. This helped me become just as confident, if not more, in speaking and listening as I was in reading and writing.
While I’m still at school, I see that as an advantage. I’ve recently learned the same content myself, so I understand what students find difficult and can explain things in a way that’s easy to understand. I’m patient, approachable, and happy to adapt my teaching to suit individual’s goals, whether you’re looking to build confidence or work towards Excellence.

I understand that sometimes, particular aspects of languages (speaking, listening, reading, writing) can be easier than others. That’s why my lessons are extremely adaptable and can be tailored to each student.
For example, if you want to improve your speaking and listening as quickly as possible, I’m more than happy to have immersive lessons where we spend time chatting in French. If you’d rather focus on reading and writing, we could do that instead. Or, if your goal is to build confidence in all four language aspects, we could mix up our activities each lesson. Before we begin, we can talk about what you want to improve and I can plan sessions that suit your goals.
Sessions are usually 60 minutes long, but I’m happy to adjust timings as you need.
My tutoring is best suited to primary, intermediate, and secondary school students, particularly those studying French through the NCEA curriculum. As I’m currently studying NCEA Level 2 French myself, I know exactly what students are learning and what teachers are looking for in assessments.
