About Isham

Hello! My name is Isham and I am a Computer Science major with a passion for learning and teaching. I discovered early in my academic journey that not only do I love the complexity and innovation that comes with Computer Science, but I also greatly enjoy breaking down these complex concepts into easily understood nuggets of information for my peers. This led me to tutoring, where I have found great fulfillment and success in helping others grasp and excel in this challenging field.

About the lesson

As a Computer Science major who's also a passionate tutor, I bring a unique perspective and approach to teaching English. Here is a general breakdown of how I structure my lessons:

Initial Assessment: Every successful learning journey begins with understanding the student's current abilities, strengths, and areas for improvement. I typically start with an initial assessment, including a conversation about their comfort level with English, their goals for improvement, and any specific challenges they've encountered.
Customized Lesson Plan: Based on this initial assessment, I create a personalized lesson plan that targets the student's specific needs. This might include lessons on grammar, vocabulary expansion, reading comprehension, or writing skills, among others.
Interactive Lessons: I firmly believe that learning is best facilitated through engagement and interaction. Hence, my lessons are not just about delivering content but also involve practical exercises, discussions, and problem-solving activities. For example, we might analyze a passage together, practice constructing sentences, or brainstorm ideas for an essay.
Practical Application: One of my primary teaching philosophies is to relate learning to real-world scenarios. This means encouraging students to apply their English skills outside of lessons, like reading English books, watching English movies, or even engaging in conversations in English. I believe this helps reinforce what they've learned and makes the language more relatable and less intimidating.
Continuous Feedback and Adjustment: I provide constant feedback to my students, so they're always aware of their progress. Based on this, I continually adjust the lesson plan to ensure we're addressing their evolving needs and that they are always challenged and engaged.
Homework and Review: I typically assign homework to consolidate the day's learning and then begin the next session by reviewing this work to ensure comprehension before we move onto new topics.
Patience and Encouragement: Learning a language can be a complex and sometimes frustrating process, but as with my approach to tutoring Computer Science, I exercise patience and provide a lot of encouragement. Each student progresses at their own pace, and my goal is to ensure they feel supported every step of the way.
The skills I've developed in problem-solving, logic, and systematic thinking from my Computer Science background are assets that I bring to my English lessons, making them structured, efficient, and productive while still being enjoyable and engaging
