About Defne
After graduating from the Violin Department at Istanbul University State Conservatory, I worked for three years with a symphony orchestra in Bulgaria. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Italy. My teaching approach involves incorporating pieces that students wish to play into the program, while also focusing on achieving the most comfortable and correct playing posture. I aim to make the learning process enjoyable by including accompanied pieces and duets, creating a well-rounded and engaging experience.

When teaching, I always approach lessons with the mindset of, "If I were the student, how would I want this lesson to be?" At the same time, I believe that the structure and progression of each lesson should be adapted to suit the individual needs of every student in the most effective way possible. In my opinion, one of the key aspects of learning is finding joy in the process of the lessons.

Deadly! They observe well, which is harder to do remotely. I also enjoy their communication and the provided homework.
Deadly! Defne is a very friendly and passionated musician. We have been meeting online weekly for almost 6 months and I really enjoy learning from her how to play viola. Defne is very professional and notices every little detail. This results in very good and important suggestions for improvement, which motivate and help me on my learning path. At first I was skeptical whether online viola lessons were a good idea and Defne convinced me 100%. I recommend her 10/10.
