About Sienna
Adult hobbyists and self-taught violinists often seek a clearer path forward. I specialize in bridging the gap between classical technique and the raw energy of folk music.
My instruction at the Old Town School of Folk Music shaped my focus on oral tradition and imitation. Across 13 years of teaching, I have mentored countless students of all ages. My approach builds foundational skills like spiccato and staccato bowing while preparing others for ABRSM or Trinity exams. Hope to see you at the jam soon.

Sticky fingers and stiff wrists frequently hinder progress during fast fiddle tunes. The bow should feel like a natural extension of your arm rather than a clumsy tool. We address rhythm and timing through deep listening and careful ear training exercises. Your classical repertoire will feel fresh when we apply these organic techniques.
I provide free bowing and posture reference notes after each lesson to keep you on track. This helps self-taught players gain the structure they need without losing the groove. Expect a relaxed environment where we get right to the music.
