About Violet

Hi! I'm from Malaysia, and I'm 30 this year. My mom exposed me to the piano instrument when I was around 7, and I've been loving it since then. I find solace when I am playing the piano and I think everyone deserves to feel what I felt. I've been sharing basic knowledge on piano playing with people around me for as long as I can remember and I always feel content when I see progress in them, no matter their pace. I believe playing music is not a competition nor something to feel stressed about. When I was representing my high school for a music competition, I didn't pick any famous or difficult pieces (song) to perform like all other contestants did. I performed Souvenirs D'Enfance by Richard Clayderman, but with my own twist (I added ornaments and changed the piece a little to my style). I was selected to represent my state. To me, playing piano is a way to find my voice and express myself. And I would like everyone to be able to do that too.

How long is the lesson?
- 30/40 minutes
30 mins lesson suits beginners and kids. (€35/lesson)
40 mins lesson is a standard lesson. (€40/lesson)

How do you teach?
- Face to face. I believe face-to-face lessons are more efficient as I am able to monitor my student's posture and guide them physically. I also cater my classes accordingly to my students' needs, like a fun class for children, and a more professional one for adults.
- Online classes can also be arranged. However, I would recommend physical lessons for a better learning experience.

Where do you teach?
- I only teach at your home

Who can learn?
- Everyone! Whether you're 5, 15, 25, or 55, it's never too early or late to learn music. I have students under 5 and above 50.

What level do you teach?
- I teach beginners to intermediate level.

How long have you been in the industry?
- I started playing piano over 20 years ago, and I used to help my piano teacher in her music school before I pursued my bachelor's studies.

What are your qualifications?
- I’ve completed Grade 8 from the ABRSM syllabus (The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) but I only have Grade 5 certifications in both Practical and Theory. I used to skip grades to save cost in exam fees and I was in preparation for my grade 8 exams before I started my bachelor's studies. I did not obtain my Grade 8 certificate due to moving away from my hometown for my undergraduate studies.

Do you have teaching experiences?
- I’ve been teaching piano since I was a piano student at 16, under the supervision of my piano teacher, until I left for my bachelor's studies.
- I was also a part-time tuition & after-school care teacher during my university years. Teaching kids aged 5 to 12.
- I’ve worked with students with special needs such as physical disabilities, dyslexia, ADHD, and autism.
- I was a music teacher in a music school in Dublin, and taught over 80 students.
- I've been teaching in Dublin since Summer 2023.

What about your achievements?
- I was the school pianist and the president of the Music Society during my high school years. I also won a state-level music competition and represented my state in a national-level music competition. Further on in my university years, I continued performing on occasions and teaching my friends during my free time. I’ve also been to other countries to perform for private events.

Deadly! Violet is such a lovely warm person. She is an amazing piano teacher she is so kind and patient . I would definitely recommend Violet 100 percent . Violet also makes learning the piano fun which I think is very important.

Ali & Alia show really good potential, possibly thanks to their father's musical genetics. But practices and revisions will take them a lot further. They need to practice and make sure to finish their theory exercises before the next class.

Her patience and dedication towards teaching me definitely pushed me from zero to Grade 5 in about 3 years. After starting lessons with her, I could understand tempo better which made dancing a lot easier and I also got into the school’s choir! I couldn’t thank her enough!
