I met Gurdain after seeing him perform in Dalston. He is both a phenomenal talent and a gifted teacher, and has given me immense confidence in my playing, explaining the intricacies of tabla with profound clarity. An excellent tabla artist who at the same time is very clear and patient at explaining and breaking down lessons for a beginner. He has a very gentle way with children but still covers so much in the time alloted. Very glad to have found a great guru for my son!

I have been learning from Gurdain for nearly a decade on and off and have no doubts in recommending him as a tabla teacher to students who are at different levels of this journey of learning the tabla.

Clarity of thought and demonstration - Be it a simple groove for part practice or a complicated composition which requires a step by step guidance, Gurdain is quite thorough in delivery which has helped me immensely in getting better at playing this fascinating instrument. He also demonstrates not just the lesson at the speed that is being taught but also at the speeds that you would see it played at concerts which helps set expectations to the student.

2. Ability to meet the student at the level they are at - Everyone has a different intentions and aspirations when learning the tabla - be it
- playing as a hobby,
- accompanying on a semi classical setting,
- aspiring to be a solo performer,
- accompanying other musicians classically or otherwise
Gurdain embraces all of these with equal attention to detail and helps bring about the best in his students.

3. Availability and flexibility - As a professional working in the industry, finding time for lessons and practice is challenging. However whenever I have needed an encouragement in terms of a session online or in person OR just snippets of a performance available to listen to, Gurdain has been quite available and works around students time.

As a bonus - I have found him quite approachable and friendly in helping me navigate my way through this musical journey. I would highly encourage aspiring students to atleast have session with him - in person if possible, else atleast online.

Gurudain has been a great teacher for more than an year for our 4.5 year old son. He has been a very passionate and a committed teacher who made table lessons for our son very engaging and fun. Teaching tabla on a virtual setting requires a lot of patience and persistence. Gurudain has been a very patient teacher and provides with a lot of practise material for young children to get better with their technique. His lessons are well structured and well-paced. Gurdain is not only one of the top tabla players in the UK, but he's one of the most gifted and inspiring teachers as well. As a student of 4+ years, I can say with confidence that Gurdain is not just a master of playing the tabla, but also in teaching it. His lessons are always very clear, methodical, and help you to focus on one or two new techniques at a time.
