About Jax
A family member once described me as a sponge with a burning desire to absorb new knowledge, and since, many others agreed commenting that I never hesitate to jump at any rising opportunities to learn new information, especially in modern languages.
I've - for as long as I can remember - held a phenomenal passion and an indescribable amount of enthusiasm for modern languages, and I realised from a young age that I am naturally gifted linguistically and possess a massive potential to venture to major heights with my ability.
I'm currently a college student in the UK progressing through further education in 2 A-Level languages - French and German - with huge aspirations to fulfil a double honours degree at university in French and German following college.
You'd be mistaken if you think it finishes there either! Outside of my formal studies, I have taken it upon myself to learn other languages including both Spanish and Polish, which I largely invest my spare time into. I even attend tuition myself in Spanish, so believe me, I understand the frustrations of a beginner in a new language (or even a language you've actively learned for years, for that matter!). You've got to start somewhere and for some (including myself) it's a hard pill to swallow, but believe me: failure is inevitable! Although, an empowering thing to consider is that "FAIL", is in fact an acronym for "First Attempt In Learning".

My teaching methodology will have a flexible approach as it highly depends on each individual students' needs as to how they learn comfortably and retain information. I will select and use techniques most suited to their learning style.
My main focus will be around repetitive exposure as it's proven to be the most efficient way for new information to stick in your long-term memory.
*𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗬 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗟 𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦*
I will engage the young people in fun activities, such as:
- Singing songs
- Playing games
- Being highly interactive by:
• Teaching them gestures
• Showing them pictures
to help them immerse in the French/German language. I am more than willing to send fun print-off worksheets digitally which would largely encourage their independent learning and to maintain interest and regular exposure to the language. Activities like crafts involving the making of clocks including months, days, numbers and seasons in the French/German language can be done via printable templates and basic craft utensils such as safety scissors and colouring pencils, etc.
May I add, that parents may rest assured that I am experienced in working with young children, as I am a qualified CYP (Children and Young People) Mental Health First Aider. I have also completed specialised training within a mental health service working around young people aged 5-18.
*𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗚𝗖𝗦𝗘 𝟵-𝟭 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵/𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦*
I will be offering my lessons based around the many themes included in GCSE-standard French/German, so contents of my lessons will include understanding grammar and expanding vocabulary in specific topics. I will be walking students through activities such as:
- Translation
- Reading
- Writing
- Listening
- Speaking
exercises to help them gain a full understanding of the content in all areas. We'll work together to get you nailing those exams in no time!
The typical lesson length will be around 50 minutes to 1 hour. This time will allow us to cover several ranging activities in bitesize chunks across the hour, keeping the students' brains active throughout rather than draining energy and focus in one specific area for the entire lesson duration.
My qualifications consist of both French and German proficiency to an A-Level standard; presently enduring my studies within college, securing high-achieving grades throughout my many assessments. I'd completed the Higher GCSE French and German examinations, therefore as a passionate linguist hoping to spread interest in modern foreign languages, I am more than willing to assist students in:
- Starting their French/German learning journey from scratch
- Improving their pre-existing French/German ability
- Preparing them to nail their French/German GSCEs.
