About BASSEL

Hello, my name is Bassel! I am a passionate and dedicated English tutor based in Saudi Arabia. I love teaching because I enjoy helping students gain confidence and achieve their goals, whether it's getting an A in IGCSE or a high score in IELTS. I am patient, friendly, and I make sure every student feels comfortable speaking and making mistakes. English opened many doors for me, and I want to help both kids and adults in KSA open those same doors for their future studies and careers.

My teaching methodology is interactive and personalized, focusing on speaking, grammar, writing, and confidence. I use real-life conversations, games for kids, and exam strategies for IGCSE and IELTS to make lessons engaging and effective. A typical lesson is 60 minutes, but I can adjust to 45 or 90 minutes based on your needs. I have strong experience tutoring both adults and kids online, helping students improve grades and achieve high band scores. My lessons are for all levels, from beginners to advanced learners, including school students preparing for IGCSE and adults preparing for IELTS or general English fluency.

  • 1. Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I learned English fluently not from my origins, but because a teacher inspired me. In intermediate school, he taught us English through debates and movies, not textbooks. He showed me English is a tool for freedom, not just a school subject, and I never stopped learning.
  • 2. Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

Sherlock Holmes. He represents the core of English culture for me: curiosity, logic, calm analysis, and the famous British understatement. "When you eliminate the impossible..."
  • 3. Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

"Let's figure it out." I love this phrase because it shows the positive, solution-focused mindset of English speakers. No problem, we will solve it together.
  • 4. Why does speaking this language matter to you?

English matters to me because it gave me my work. As a chess coach, I teach students from different countries and all my best chess resources are in English. It turned my local skill into an international career.
  • 5. What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

The main difficulty for Arabs is translating from Arabic in your head before you speak. This makes you slow and scared. The solution is immersion and thinking directly in English. In my classes, we do that by describing what we see and do - like narrating a chess game - so you stop translating and start speaking.
  • 6. Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

I had to explain the "en passant" chess rule to a non-Arabic speaker and I didn't know the words. I had to use simple English, gestures, and draw it. He understood, and we both laughed. That day I realized fluency is not about perfect words, it's about making yourself understood.
  • 7. How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

My weekly trips from Jeddah to Makkah to teach for 2 hours taught me real English. I coach, negotiate prices, give feedback, and build trust - all in English. It taught me business English and everyday conversational English that you can't learn in a classroom.
  • 8. What makes you a Superprof in language?

Because I am also a professional chess coach. I know how to build a plan for each student, keep you disciplined, and make you see progress every week. I'm not here to waste your time - I'm here to make you fluent with clear goals, homework, and constant support on WhatsApp
