About Jessica
I hold a PhD in microbiology and have taught at undergraduate and post-graduate levels. I have a great love of English and am a published author. I am CELTA certified to teach ESL, specialising in Academic English. I am available to tutor online using zoom or skype with the option for in person lessons in the Ballarat area.

I like to go into topics in depth to ensure that students understand the underlying concepts. For Academic English students I focus on essay writing and research skills that can be carried over to future assignments as well as assistance with presentation skills and practice. I also provide basic proofreading services.
For basic ESL I focus on areas that are usually neglected in classrooms; tone, stress, pronunciation and authentic listening skills.
I try to fit my teaching method to suit my students preferred method. I would suit students who prefer aural, verbal or logical teaching methods. I would not suit those who prefer visual or physical learning styles.
