About Renato

Hello, I'm Renato Dicdican, an English teacher and university lecturer with more than 15 years of classroom experience across eight institutions in Malaysia and Thailand.

My qualifications are real and verifiable. I hold a Master of Human Sciences in Teaching English as a Second Language from the International Islamic University Malaysia, a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (Economics) from Mindanao State University, and a TEFL certificate. I have taught IGCSE English and ESL at Spectrum International School in Malaysia and lectured at Prince of Songkhla University in Thailand.

You can expect a professional, organised and honest approach. I track your progress with regular assessments, give clear, structured feedback, and keep parents informed when my student is a child or teenager. I also served as lead proofreader on final exam papers, so I pay close attention to accuracy and detail in everything I teach.

My results speak for me: my Year 9 students scored above the Global Average in the IGCSE Checkpoint, a first for their school, and my entire Year 11 ESL class passed their IGCSE exams. Professional references are available on request.

With me, you are learning from an experienced teacher who takes your goals seriously.

About the lesson

Hi, I'm Renato. If English is the one thing standing between you and a better grade, a place at university, or a stronger career, I'll help you find exactly where you're stuck and fix it.

My teaching method

I start with a short diagnostic to pinpoint your gap, whether it's essay structure, grammar, vocabulary or exam technique. Then I build every lesson around that gap instead of following a one-size-fits-all textbook. Regular short checks show you your progress early, so there are no surprises on exam day.

A typical lesson

* 1. Quick review of your last practice task and a clear goal for today.
* 2. Focused teaching of one target skill, with examples.
* 3. Guided practice where you try it and I give feedback straight away.
* 4. A short check of what you've learned, then a practice task to take away.

What sets me apart

In my last school post, my Year 9 IGCSE Checkpoint students scored above the Global Average, a first in the school's history, and my entire Year 11 ESL class passed their IGCSE exams. I hold a Master's in TESL and a TEFL certificate, and I have 15+ years of experience teaching school students, university undergraduates and adults in Malaysia and Thailand.

Who my lessons are for

IGCSE English and ESL students (Cambridge and Edexcel), including Year 9 Checkpoint and Year 11 exam candidates. University students who need stronger academic writing and communication. Adults preparing for certification-level English. Beginners with very little English: I helped a class of near-zero-proficiency students reach mainstream English-medium classrooms after one semester.

Book a lesson with me and let's turn your English into your strength. - Renato
