About Cristina

My name is Cristina. I’m Italian, I hold a degree in Humanities, a PhD in Cultural Anthropology, and I’m also a Life Coach. Throughout my training, I have dedicated myself to the field of education, offering private, personalised, one-on-one lessons in subjects such as Latin, literature, and Italian — for all levels and students of any age. While Cultural Anthropology and research are specific and quite “academic” fields, in my everyday experience I realised that my background deeply influenced the way I teach. My curiosity about other ways of thinking, other cultures, and the dialogical interview methods I used in my research have been — and still are — essential to my teaching approach. Furthermore, studying Coaching tools (both Life and Business Coaching), with their communication techniques, has completed my vision of how I wanted to teach and connect with students. This doesn’t mean that my lessons are a mix of all these things. If a student wants separate Italian or Latin lessons, that’s exactly what they’ll get — in a clear and structured way. However, my approach is motivational: in all my classes (even the most “academic” ones), I use Coaching techniques so that students can learn enjoyably while gaining confidence and a sense of empowerment. Whatever the reason behind our interest in learning another language or exploring the classical world (which, after all, holds our linguistic and cultural roots), the goal is always the same — to achieve something meaningful. And that process always helps us feel stronger and more self-assured in our lives. According to the anthropologist Fabietti, approaching another culture produces what he calls “border knowledge.” This kind of knowledge is never simply the sum of two cultures; it is a space where new perspectives emerge. The same happens when we study another language, no matter if modern or ancient.

About the lesson

My name is Cristina. I’m Italian, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Literature and a PhD in Social Anthropology. In my classes you will learn Italian in a pleasant, entertaining way and you will reach a fluent conversational level in a short time thanks to my motivational, dialogical teaching method. There is no age or level limit.

Depending on the student’s goal, classes are structured in different ways:

YOU NEED TO PASS AN EXAM: — grammar study with exercises, conversation, writing and text correction, exam preparation for all levels.
YOU LIKE TO TRAVEL TO ITALY: — study of basic grammar and topic-based conversation.
YOU WANT TO SPEAK FLUENTLY JUST BECAUSE YOU LOVE ITALIAN: — study/review of grammar, conversation, sentence construction, and encouragement for spontaneous expression. Conversation will be built step by step, through repetition and vocabulary study, to develop self-confidence and fluency.

Cristina has such a lovely, warm engaging nature she instantly puts you at ease in the class. I came with zero knowledge of Italian, but its amazing how Cristina guides you through the first steps. I have tried to learn a few times before but it feels different this time and i feel confidant that this time i know I will make it!
I guess I contacted Cristina as she is a native speaker and she has so much experience and you can really tell! She also has a good level of English to explain the trickier grammar points. She brings a lot of energy to the class and is funny, so classes are really enjoyable as learning should be. Highly recommended.
