About Hirantha
I have mentored students of various ethnic backgrounds, ages (6-40) and abilities in pinpointing their individual academic/musical needs, allowing them to flourish both academically/musically and as balanced students. This experience ameliorated my penchant for flexibility, adaptability, as well as the engagement and understanding of different students. I love meeting new students and helping them through their journey with the instrument. Every individual has different needs and goals and as a teacher I work together with every student, giving them the tools, knowledge and support they need to reach those goals.

• Bachelor of Performing Arts First class Honours Degree in Music - University of the Visual & Performing Arts, Sri Lanka.
• Successfully completed ABRSM, TCL exams in Violin Performance.
• Master of Arts in Music - University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.
• Visharad (Instrumental - Violin) First Division - Bhatkhande Sangith Vidyapit Lucknow.

• A Review on study, use & techniques of violin playing in western musical tradition in Sri Lanka.
• The Influence of string Instruments in the medieval era on the present music field with special references to the Hurdy Gurdy.

I am a professional violin player and a teacher, in Sri Lanka. I have a Bachelor of Performing Arts First class Honours Degree and a Master's degree in Music. I have playing experience in orchestras, chamber ensembles, and music bands. I also do singing, and I am currently active as a violin Performer and as a Music Tutor for all ages. I am very patient, enjoy teaching, and I am willing to work with any student who is interesting in anything I have to offer, regardless of knowledge level they possess. I could introduce students to various musical genres of playing, singing and also to incorporate the correct techniques and expressions - classical, traditional, jazz, funk, soul, rock...etc: I like to approach every student individually, because we are all different and special in our own way. I believe that everyone can learn to play music, and the only thing you need is the will, love and work. :) If you want to learn with me and have fun while doing it, contact me, from whichever side of the world you are coming from!
