About Barry

With an academic background in History and Politics and over 11 years' experience of teaching History, I bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to my tutoring services. I have 6 years experience as a Head of Department at a secondary school in London, I have tutored numerous students over the past seven years, specialising in exam cohorts at KS4 and KS5. I have also undergone extensive training in exam marking for Edexcel and OCR. My tutoring approach focuses on structured and engaging lessons that not only boost students' grades but also foster a genuine love for the subject and build their confidence. Each lesson is well-structured and informative, incorporating open-ended questions and dialogue

About the lesson

With over 11 years of experience as a secondary school teacher and current Head of Department, I am dedicated to fostering academic excellence in History and Politics. My principal subject is History, and I also teach Politics at KS5. I specialise in twentieth-century history, including the Russian Revolutions and the USA Civil Rights Movement, but I am very experienced in tutoring all periods and themes within History for KS3-KS5. What I Offer: Expertise in Exam Technique: Specialising in exam preparation and techniques for both A-Level and GCSE History. A-Level Coursework Specialist: Extensive experience with various exam boards, focusing on the NEA (Non-Exam Assessment) module and coursework.
Comprehensive Tutoring: Tailored lessons for KS3-KS5 students, enhancing exam skills, writing abilities, and coursework assistance. Lesson Structure: Each session is 50 minutes long, designed to maximise student engagement and learning. My passion lies in guiding young adults through the intricacies of history and politics, inspiring curiosity, and achieving outstanding results for all students, whether they are aiming for top grades or need support to improve their performance
