About Talia
Hello! I'm a 19-year-old English Literature and Language student at Oxford, at Pembroke College. I’ve only just finished my first year, so the whole application process — stressing over every sentence of my personal statement, then trying to sound coherent in interviews while analysing poems I’d never seen before — is still pretty fresh in my mind.
I started helping people because I remember how overwhelming it all felt. After I got my offer, a couple of friends asked me to look at their statements or do some practice interviews with them. I found I really enjoyed it. There’s something genuinely satisfying about helping someone turn a jumbled draft into something that actually sounds like them, and watching them feel more confident about the whole thing.
I’m a patient person and I like taking the time to understand what each student is trying to say, rather than just telling them what I think they should write. Whether you need help structuring your personal statement so it fits the character limit without losing your voice, practising for interviews, or just figuring out how to talk about the books and ideas you actually care about, I’ll adapt to what you need.
If you’re applying to Oxford, Cambridge or another competitive university and want support from someone who’s been through it very recently themselves, I’d be really happy to help you feel more prepared and more like yourself.

My Zoom lessons are practical and collaborative. We work together on your personal statement or interview preparation rather than me just telling you what to change.
In a typical session we usually start by looking at what you’ve already written or your initial ideas. I’ll give you honest, detailed feedback on what’s working well and where we can strengthen it. Then we’ll edit and improve it together in real time, so you can see exactly how small changes make a big difference. Because I only went through the Oxbridge process myself a few weeks ago, I can show you how I structured my own statement and what I wish I’d known earlier — things that are still fresh for me.
We focus on keeping your voice and experiences at the heart of the statement, while making sure it’s clear, concise, and engaging for admissions tutors. I’m especially good at helping students cut words without losing impact, and we’ll work on that together until it feels sharp and authentic.
For interview practice (particularly for English Literature), lessons usually involve working with unseen poetry or prose, practising how to compare texts, and building confidence in thinking aloud and responding to challenging questions. I’ll push you gently but supportively, mirroring the style of Oxbridge interviews.
Everything is completely tailored to you. Lessons are relaxed, flexible, and scheduled around your timetable. My aim is to help you feel confident and proud of your application — not just prepared, but ready to show who you really are.
