About Talia
Hello! I’m an 18-year-old English Literature enthusiast, thrilled to have secured a place at Oxford University to study English Literature and Language—the only student from my school to achieve this feat. My personal statement was praised by teachers as reading “almost like a PhD thesis,” reflecting my ability to weave passion, academic insight, and achievements into a compelling narrative. I’ve successfully guided numerous students in crafting their personal statements, particularly helping them trim content to fit the 4,000-character limit while showcasing their strengths. My own Oxford application journey gave me deep insight into what makes a statement stand out to Oxbridge reviewers, from highlighting genuine enthusiasm to avoiding common pitfalls. Having navigated Oxford’s rigorous interview process, including analysing unseen poetry and debating texts on the spot, I’m well-equipped to prepare you for similar challenges. I’m friendly, approachable, and passionate about helping you present your best self in your Oxbridge application, offering tailored support to make your journey to a top university as smooth as possible.

My Zoom lessons are designed to support Oxbridge candidates applying for essay-based subjects like English Literature and Language, History, Classics, or Languages, helping you craft a personal statement that showcases your passion and achievements within the 4,000-character limit. As your guide, I’ll use my own Oxford personal statement as a model to help you identify valuable experiences, weave them into a compelling narrative, and avoid common pitfalls. I’ll review drafts, provide detailed feedback, and suggest improvements to ensure your statement resonates with Oxbridge reviewers, without writing it for you. Before you start writing, I can recommend activities like MOOCs, essay competitions, or research to enrich your application and reflect your broad interests. My experience helping students cut character counts ensures your statement is concise yet powerful. I also offer tailored support for Oxbridge interview preparation, particularly for English Literature applicants, with practice in analysing unseen poetry, comparing texts, thinking on your feet, and responding assertively to challenging questions. While I can’t guarantee admission due to the many factors involved, my goal is to maximise your chances by highlighting your strengths and enthusiasm. Lessons are personalised, relaxed, and scheduled flexibly to fit your needs, creating a supportive space to refine your application and boost your confidence. Let’s work together to make your Oxbridge application stand out!
