About Alison

I am the MFL lead at a state school in Oxfordshire, in charge of developing and delivering the curriculum for French and Spanish. I hold an undergraduate degree (First Class) from Oxford University in French and Spanish, a Master's degree (with distinction) from Oxford University in Latin American Studies, and a PGCE in MFL teaching from Sheffield Hallam University.

About the lesson

Lessons can be tailored to a particular topic or skill that you want to work on - preparation for speaking exams is a speciality, including support with IRP. A student recently improved her A-level grade from a C in mocks to an A in the real exam with less than a year of tutoring. I am confident teaching all aspects of French and Spanish grammar, and can give you exercises to practise outside of our sessions. For KS3 (Year 7 to 9), I recommend regular sessions of 30 minutes; for GCSE and A-level 60 minute sessions are more beneficial. I can also offer interview practice for university entrance and personal statement advice.

Deadly! Alison is really organised, very professional and just a really nice person to be tutored by. My daughter ended up with an "A" at A-level after a year with Alison after getting Cs and Ds earlier in her course, and is heading off to Bristol Uni to do a degree in French / History. So we were super-happy with her teaching. Thank you Alison!

Deadly! Alison is calm and patient with my terrible "O" level French and is an excllent teacher. I was looking to improve my confidence and my vocab and she is great for both. I've had 3 lessons so far and enjoyed every minute.
