About Madeleine

I have been extremely lucky with the education that I have received attending the University of Oxford, and subsequently feel that I am in a great position to help others. I have felt incredibly captivated and inspired by my study, both at school and university, and am passionate about enabling others to have this experience. I believe that the disillusionment felt by some students towards their education is often caused by obstacles such as boredom and a lack of self confidence, and that once these issues are tackled there is no limit to what a student can get out of their education. Throughout my GCSE's and especially A levels I had really struggled with my confidence academically, and frequently felt too nervous to interrupt a lesson to make the teacher aware that I wasn't fully understanding. For this reason I can empathise hugely with a student lacking confidence, and as a tutor will provide a safe and encouraging space to regain control, comprehension and enjoyment of learning. Therefore, my approach is to be very patient and encouraging whilst making a subject engaging and inspiring in a way that it may not seem in the classroom.

Deadly! Great English Tutor
Maddie teaches english to both our children (5y and 7y) who are native French speakers. She's very frientdly and at ease with children and was excellent at keeping the lesson varied with a mix of conversation, writing and reading. Both children really enjoy the classes, and we have noticed a clear improvement, we're very happy with her, strongly recommend!
