About Chloe
Why me?
I have over 300 hours of tutoring experience. Within the first 20 hours I taught with SuperProf, I had several students, lots of 5* feedback, and was awarded Ambassador status, meaning that the platform considered me one of its best and most reliable tutors. Please see my reviews and recommendations for personal anecdotes.
I hold bachelor's (QMUL) and master's (Oxford) degrees in English literature with First Class Honours and Distinction, respectively. I currently also hold an unconditional offer to pursue a DPhil (PhD) in English at Oxford, ranking 4th out of all candidates who applied. I can therefore help with GCSE, A-Level, undergraduate and master's level English literature and language, having consistently achieved the top grades and classifications myself. My own research specialises in medieval literature, making me well-equipped to teach texts from the earliest Old English right up to modernist and contemporary writing.
I have experience as a professional proofreader and copyeditor for clients across a range of subjects, from English, to Classics, Philosophy, Medicine, Politics, International Relations, Psychology, and many more. I have spent years helping and advising friends and colleagues with essays and exams; I am therefore well-acquainted with the mechanics and specifications of English literature syllabi at all levels.
Students I have coached through university entrance processes have gone on to get offers from Oxbridge and Russell Group universities, as well as win prestigious, fully-funded scholarships.

Ethos:
I am passionate about English literature and language and love to encourage my students to find similar enjoyment and inspiration in the texts they read. I cater sessions to focus on what a particular student needs help with, making sure that this is discussed liberally and productively during the free consultation session to maximise success and student satisfaction. At the end of each session thereafter it is important to review, consolidate, and prepare for the next, usually by setting interesting and thought-provoking homework.
Methodology:
For my GCSE, A-Level, and undergraduate students, I combine nailing the particulars of the exam board or faculty specifications with tips and tricks learnt from my own life-long experiences of analysing texts and writing essays with great success. Ultimately, I believe that students should leave my sessions able to not just pass the exam or essay they are working towards, but with the confidence, ability, skill-set, and drive to approach English at any level and thrive.
Further services:
With two degrees from Russell Group universities, I can also help with undergraduate and master's applications, Oxbridge entrance, personal statements, and essay technique. Please contact me for more information about my copyediting and proof-reading services, in which I provide non-video call thorough feedback and edits on any piece of writing, e.g. via the Microsoft Word review tool.
Particulars:
I offer my first hour for free. This generally functions as a consultation for prospective long-term students. We'll spend the time getting to know each other, understanding what you or your child needs, and developing a plan of action.
I currently only offer tuition for students on the British Curriculum aged 14+ (GCSE, A-Level, or university level), and do not offer tuition for younger students at this time.
Lessons will take place on Google Meet.

Deadly! Chloe is very organised and super engaging. She has a comprehensive understanding of the requirements of GCSE papers. My son benefitted enormously from his lessons with her. Deadly! Chloe is an excellent teacher.
She is very kind, thoughtful and easy to get along with. Chloe has given me some very useful advice about how to prepare for exams and also showing myself the importance of revision. How to manage my time and using different techniques for revision, preparing flashcards for example.

Deadly! Chloe is an outstanding tutor! She has proofread and edited a piece of work I sent to her, and has provided me with very detailed feedback on the piece of work and how I could improve it. Hands down she’s the best tutor I’ve ever had. She honestly wants you to succeed to the very best of your ability. I could not be any happier with Chloe and how her proofreading/editing skills are. I highly recommend her.

- Amelia is a dedicated and interpretive student, genuinely talented and adept at literary analysis. She is making excellent progress with her set texts for her IGCSE - keep up the good work!Chloe's response :
Deadly! I've always struggled with English at school, often not understanding what we were studying or what teacher feedback meant. However, Chloe made it really easy for me to understand everything and sets me homework relevant to what we've been doing at school and in our tutoring lessons, to further my knowledge. Chloe is really lovely and is always smiley, making learning so much easier and I'm really grateful for all her help!
- Lily-May is one of my most capable students; she is interested, motivated, and genuinely invested in her own success. Her analyses are unique and well thought-through. Keep up the good work!Chloe's response :
Deadly! Chloe is my go-to editor! She genuinely wants you to succeed. We worked on my master's applications together (I already got into one of my top choices). She is patient and professional. I will only work with her now! If you are a non-native speaker, definitely get some help from her. It makes a huge change! Thank you, Chloe!
Deadly! I could not have asked for a better tutor than Chloe, from beginning to end she’s been literally amazing in helping me on my personal statement for the top universities. Not only was she helping me with a personal statement on a course completely different to her subject expertise, she went out of her own way to research further on how to best make my application stronger. I look forward to working with her again for my admissions test for Oxford University, and I highly recommend Chloe to anybody who’s looking for someone who provides very thorough and detailed feedback on any piece of written work.

Chloe helped me massively as I was a retake student and had no teacher support before I decided to take sessions with her. Chloe’s ability to plan lessons effectively, give constructive essay feedback and offer unique literary points that differentiate you from other students is great. I will be going to my firm choice university this September to study Political Science and International Relations and I am confident in saying it wouldn’t have been possible without her help!
I would recommend Chloe to anyone who is looking to truly excel at English Literature at any level. I am a Masters in Physics graduate from Imperial College London who has known Chloe since completing our GCSEs together. She is an extremely gifted writer with a flare for teaching. Her excellent academic history confirms that she knows how to consistently succeed at the highest standard from GCSE all the way through to a Master's at Oxford. But most importantly she has an empathetic and friendly personality that makes it easy for her to build rapport with students and pass on her knowledge in a manner that is tailored to each student's needs.
I met Chloe in 2014, in our English Language and English Literature A level classes. Throughout the entirety of the two years we spent doing our A levels, Chloe was known for helping other students within lessons and very often any work produced by Chloe was given to others by our tutors as A grade example work.
As university students, Chloe has proof read my work alongside other university students, as her opinion and input is vastly trusted.
When it comes to her academia, Chloe is a very organised person who puts in 100% effort. With that, when she tutors others, I’m sure the same level of organisation and effort will be mirrored making her an exceptional tutor.I'm not sure there are words to explain Chloe's impact on my education. Chloe and I attended university together from 2016-19 and I genuinely believe that I achieved a 2:1 grade in English due to Chloe. Were it not for her excellent tutelage, I would've found it hard to find my academic path within university. Chloe effortlessly helped me to understand elements on the degree that I was not able to discern from my professors and supervisors. She was always calm and collected when helping me - and often took hours out of her week to run me through any upcoming assignments or exams that were due. I couldn't think of a better person to help me/my son or daughter with anything within the field of study of English. I'm sure I am not the only person who could vouch for her so effusively too.
I have known Chloe since our undergraduate studies at Queen Mary and with absolute confidence, I can say that she is immensely intelligent, diligent, accomplished, and affable. She is remarkably dedicated, thorough, dutiful, coherent, passionate, and clear in her approach, and most importantly, incredibly supportive. With ease, efficiency, eloquence, and encouragement, Chloe will credibly explain the ins and outs of English literature and language, from jargon to theory. She will also reliably help you navigate through the challenges of academic work, whether analysing text, essay writing, or exam preparation. She will endow you with the valuable knowledge and experiences she has gained during her successful studies, and with a fantastic attitude, she will guide you in developing the necessary skills, confidence, and motivation to achieve outstanding results in your own studies. I highly recommend Chloe to tutees, especially if you are looking for a positive and rewarding learning environment from an empathetic and exceptionally qualified tutor.
I was one of Chloe's peers in the MSt 650-1550 English cohort for 2019-2020, and in the relatively short time that I have known her, I have benefitted significantly from her guidance. Whether it be essay advice or helping to explain and simplify complex topics, I could always rely on her to offer answers in a patient and understanding manner. Her knowledge in our subject area is impeccable and I found her expression of this especially compelling in our class presentations- hence why she was my "go-to" for any questions about our course! I envy anyone who gets Chloe as their tutor- if her impressive skills of written and verbal expression were not enough, her passion and drive for the subject cements her suitability for tutoring. Her motivation inspired me when my own was lacking and I think that this is an invaluable quality for a tutoring role catered to build the confidence of students.
