About Alex

I am a 3rd Year History student at Oxford University, with a focus on religious and social history. I studied Religion and Philosophy at GCSE and A-Level. My knowledge of religious history is valuable to students as I am able to impart an understanding of the social and cultural context for the religion and philosophy they study which they do not achieve at school, and which gives them the edge in exams.
I have tutored for 2 years independently and through university schemes, and have achieved success in helping students gain places at Russell Group universities, including Oxbridge.

About the lesson

My lessons are discussion-based, engaging, and interactive. I aim to develop my students' wider interest in Religion and Philosophy, as this genuine interest and passion is what fuels long-term academic achievement!
Through open discussion about course content and primary sources, students are able to engage with topics more thoroughly than in school, and are able to develop their own thoughts, ask important questions, and find what interests them within the subject.
Lessons are based on religious and philosophical texts, from which a detailed and wide-ranging discussion of course content begins. At the end of the discussion, I work with students to help them understand how to embed their new skills and ideas in their exam technique.
The ability to think for oneself about the big issues in Religion and Philosophy gives my students the tools they need to achieve great grades!
