As part of my role as the Head of Business, I am the tutor for Business, Law and Economics as well as the co-ordinator for Edexcel Work Skills Level 1 and Level 2. I have two years’ experience of teaching HNC and HND Business. In the most recent OFSTED inspection my teaching and learning was graded as ‘Outstanding’. I am responsible for managing 3 sub curriculum areas; Business, Art and Design and Performing Arts. Over the last three years as a manager I have maintained 93% retention and 100% achievement rate for the programs I manage. I have been a Standard Verifier for Edexcel and AQA since 2014. My sense of humour and flexibility is a key asset to me as a manager. I believe that to be an effective manager one must also be an effective motivator. Through individual drill down meetings my staff members are aware of the targets for their respective courses including attendance, retention, achievement and Value Added. I am confident to give my own ideas to help improve learners’ experience in my area as well as represent my staff’s perspective to college leadership. I am adaptable to change and can prioritise my work load to ensure there is not a negative impact on the learners’ experience. I challenge any issues that have not been dealt with and put strategies in place where needed. I am able to establish a supportive relationship with not only learners but also their parents. I am able to maintain good order and discipline among all the pupils, both when they are authorised to be on the school premises and when they are engaged in authorised school activities elsewhere. I am a big believer in continuous learning in order to broaden my knowledge and experience.
