About Antonia

As a teacher of Computing and ICT with departmental responsibility for Computer Science I led Enterprise Education through an imaginative range of activities delivered through ICT, with a full range of extra-curricular opportunities across the key stages. My focus is to shape the future for individuals through the development of Computer Science by working with them to meet their specific needs; to contribute to the success of a student who values academic excellence; to foster continuous learning; and to inspire students to fulfil their individual potential for intellectual, creative, spiritual, emotional and physical achievement. I have worked at five schools in Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire, with roles such as Head of Department, Community Project Manager, Enterprise Coordinator, teacher of Computer Science and ICT. I have a Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies, a Diploma in Management, and Qualified Teacher status. My interests include spending time with my family, travelling to experience different cultures, open water swimming, scuba diving and researching new technologies.

About the lesson

I am a well-qualified and knowledgeable teacher of Computer Science and ICT, having had experience and success across all key stages, ages and abilities ranging from primary school pupils to adults. I single-handedly taught Functional Skills ICT to 140 Year 9 students with a pass rate of 95% at Level 2 and 92% at Level 1. As a CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) I have experience of training KS5, post-16, and adults. I am an effective teacher, a firm disciplinarian and have a good working relationship with colleagues and students. I used my passion and initiative to achieve excellent outcomes at five different schools. I was named as a ‘Champion’ by the SSAT (Specialist Schools and Academies Trust) to create resources to equip young people with knowledge and skills when facing financial decisions. I created the Year 9 Careers project, which resulted in a visit to the school from a number of influential people including Ed Davey, since it reflected Government interest. My schemes of work demonstrate planning for progression across key stages with secure subject knowledge. I deliver well-organised lessons, my classes are well managed, and there is evidence of students enjoying lessons. I utilise various forms of assessment with consistent and effective marking and feedback to students, with use of monitoring software online.
