About Jena
I am from Seattle, USA. Thirteen years ago I moved abroad to teach English. I have taught in Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, and Turkey. I have taught ages of 1 to 60 years of age, in both language schools and international schools. I specialize in kindergarten, science to young learners, curriculum development, learning through play, authentic learning, project-based learning, and literacy and phonics for early learners. I am earning my master's degree in Early Childhood Education, finishing in August 2019.

The best way to describe my teaching methodology is authentic learning. I believe children and adults are more focused and motivated to learn when the learning goal is combined with the student's interests. I believe in holistic teaching, which means I feel like I am teaching not only English but also social skills, positive attitudes for learning, self-confidence, and creativity. I teach with compassion, but also with strong expectations from the student.
