Emily was one of my favorite professors in college. She taught a 300-level Honors course that ended up being one of my favorite classes, in large part because of her teaching. She worked tirelessly to provide meaningful feedback on our work while maintaining high standards for her students and consistently challenging us to consider new perspectives. She also met us where we were in terms of our writing skills, dynamically adapting her lesson plans based on pain points in our writing. For example, after grading one of our papers, she discovered many of us were missing some of the core elements in our paragraphs (such as a thesis statement), and spent a class covering basic paragraph structure. Thanks to Emily, I improved my critical thinking skills and made my writing more concise and focused. This set me up for success in graduate school and beyond. I have since earned my MBA and now work in higher education, and I use the skills she taught me every day in my work.

Emily is a great teacher who cares about her students and gives her all to make sure they leave her lessons feeling accomplished. Her mix of kindness, care, wisdom, and knowledge help to create lessons that stick with her students. I had Emily as a teacher over a decade ago, and I still think back on her class and what I learned all those years ago. Anyone who studies under her is fortunate to have such a fantastic tutor/teacher.
