About Accalia

I am an experienced and enthusiastic tutor with a First Class Honours degree in English from RHUL and am currently working towards a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Nottingham. I have a full DBS check and have over 2 years of experience with online tuition. My dissertation was on Metatheatre and Identity in 3 of Shakespeare's plays so I am especially proficient in early modern literature. I remain an avid lover of Shakespeare and frequently go to see a range of plays. I'd love to be able to inspire a similar passion in my students, and help them work through their struggles with the subject. English can be especially difficult because it doesn't require straightforward answers like so many other subjects. More about me... I've also been a freelance writer for 4 years, providing engaging copy to businesses and publishing journalism in local papers and magazines. English can take you to many places and offers so many important skills in research, critical thinking and analysis. Most jobs require you to have good written and oral communication skills and I can help you to demonstrate these skills in your exams having gone through them all in recent years!

About the lesson

I offer online tutoring to GCSE and A level students via Google Meet - I use an online whiteboard combined with video calling, PowerPoints and workbooks - you will see the work that we are doing on the screen and I will talk you through everything the same as if I were sat next to you. I also ensure that a shared Google Doc is set up so students will have access to all the work we cover, as well as further learning resources and activities. I offer a unique and flexible tutoring approach that focuses on ensuring students: ✶ understand what they need to know ✶ improve their memory and revision methods ✶ apply their knowledge correctly in exam style questions to achieve their dream grades ✶ feel more confident in their subjects and themselves Reviews: “Accalia has been the best tutor! I delve into your interests to find the right angle into English for you, and to work on the areas that you struggle with most. Having achieved a First class English degree from RHUL, I am proficient in a range of literature, especially Shakespeare and Early Modern English (having studied my thesis on this subject). I can teach students up to undergraduate level.
