About Caitlin
My favourite thing to express to people is that anything is possible if you work towards it. In primary school and for the first couple of years at secondary school I was never seen as smart, with my grades being well below average and needing extra support. As it was, for my last couple of years at secondary school, I was able to find what study methods worked best for me and secured 11 GCSEs. Another fact I like to say is that I have never been one to follow the crowd. I do not feel as if 'following the crowd' is something negative, I just have always preferred to follow what I enjoy which more often than not, has been going in the opposite direction to everyone else. After GCSEs I went to college to partake in a programme that I did really enjoy. I got to participate in my hobby and call it education, however, I ran into some difficulties with my college work and almost dropped out. I did not think I would complete college, let alone get into university. I did take a year out after college to have a bit of a breather and then in 2022 I started studying law at university. Never did I think I would get to where I am now. I love sharing my story with others because I think it is encouraging to know that you can make mistakes, you can take time out, you can change your mind on things and still achieve greatness. You are the one in control of your life; you can do whatever you put your mind to.

As someone who has two younger siblings who both have autism and ADHD, I have learnt to adapt my sessions to fit the needs of whomever I am tutoring at the time. I aim to break my lessons down into several sections, with each area focused on a different learning style (kinaesthetic, visual, auditory, reading/writing), however this does not have to be the case if your child has a specific learning style they prefer. It is important to note that a typical lesson length will be around an hour although as stated above, this time will be split into different sections, allowing for breaks as and when needed. My lessons are aimed at anyone from the age of 5 years to 16 years; during secondary school I was a literacy ambassador which meant I helped tutor the younger years of the school (years 7 and 8) with their reading and writing. Once in college I became a multi-sports coach for children aged 2-8 years, ranging in ability, resulting in learning to adapt sessions to meet and engage all levels as well as giving me the opportunity to learn how to break down different skills and techniques to be understood by those who had never heard or tried them before, a skill which I carry with me. I achieved 8's in both my English Language and English Literature GCSEs and I am currently halfway through my law degree.
