About Molly
I am currently studying Sociology at university and am throughly passionate about the subject. I have just completed a placement year at DWP as a Government Social Researcher where I have utilised my social research expertise to lead on a variety of different projects working with social researchers, ministers and special advisors. Aside from my studies I enjoy socialising with friends, travelling and watching Netflix. I really enjoying tutoring and supporting students to achieve the grades they desire.

I have been a sociology tutor for 2 years, I remember how difficult and stressful taking exams and applying to University can be, especially whilst you are trying to do both at the same time! I try to be encouraging, supportive and patient with my students as it is important that all lessons are catered to the student's needs and to install in them the belief that they can achieve the grades they desire. Whilst I was studying for both my GCSE's and A Levels, I religiously used mind maps as revision techniques. Not only did I find that you could make these quite enjoyable using colours and illustrations, but it was a good way to condense information that I knew rather than simply just reading my notes. Therefore, during my lessons I like to pick a topic and then break this down into sub topics with my pupils, discussing key sociologists that may be useful to remember. We then condense this down into mind maps and a list of sociologists that can be converted into cue cards. At the end of the lesson I like to apply the content we have discussed to a practice question in order to guide the pupils through exam content. Over the course of the lessons I pick questions with varying marks available, this will allow for development with different types of questions and the frequent practice will hopefully see an improvement in time. It will also allow me to focus on any weak points in essays which I can help to tackle. Near the end of the lesson I ask the student what they have learnt and what they want to learn the following week so that the lesson is centred around the student. Lessons are usually one hour in length and are for students studying GCSE or A Level.
