About Maria
I began my career as a private tutor in 1996, while I was still a high school student! Since then, I have tutored over 2,000 students ranging in age from 7 years old to adults! I earned my Bachelor's degree from Hunter College of the City University of New York, and my teaching license from Greensboro College and the University of Phoenix. I am now a dual-licensed Spanish/ESL teacher. I am passionate about my Native Language-how languages hold knowledge, history, experience, culture-and I try to impart that excitement and love for language to my students!

First and foremost, I approach every lesson with enthusiasm and energy! I quickly assess my students' language needs and tailor the lesson to best meet those specific needs. I employ a combination of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic approaches. I am a firm believer in direct instruction, modeling, and gradual release, and incorporate discussion and dialogue to a high degree in my lessons.
