About DeShunda
Hello! My name is Ms. West, and I am a dedicated, patient, and compassionate educator with hands-on experience working with elementary-aged students in a classroom setting.
I am currently continuing my education in Elementary Education because teaching and helping children succeed is truly my passion. Through my classroom experience, I have developed an understanding of how children learn differently and the importance of providing individualized support, encouragement, and patience.
I specialize in helping Pre-K through 2nd grade students strengthen their foundational literacy skills, including reading, phonics, spelling, vocabulary, handwriting, and writing.
I believe every child has the ability to succeed when given the right support and opportunities. I take pride in creating a positive, welcoming learning environment where students feel comfortable, confident, and excited about learning.
As an educator, my greatest reward is watching a child accomplish something they once thought was difficult. I look forward to partnering with families to help their little learners grow academically and build confidence that extends beyond the classroom.

I believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and feel confident in their abilities. My tutoring sessions are designed specifically for Pre-K through 2nd grade students who need additional support in reading, phonics, spelling, handwriting, vocabulary, and writing.
Each child receives a personalized, one-on-one, 60-minute session based on their individual learning needs. My lessons include 45 minutes of focused instruction and 15 minutes of fun, educational games that reinforce the skills we practice.
I use hands-on activities, positive encouragement, and patience to create a welcoming learning environment where children feel comfortable making mistakes and celebrating their progress.
I begin by identifying each child's strengths and areas for growth, then develop lessons that help build a strong literacy foundation. Parents also receive regular progress updates so they can stay informed and involved in their child's learning journey.
My goal is not just to help children become better readers and writers, but to help them develop confidence, independence, and a genuine love for learning.
