About Silas

I am currently a Grade 11 student at W.J. Mouat Secondary School enrolled in the French immersion program. I recently completed French 11 at the top of my class, consistently maintaining strong academic performance throughout my immersion studies.

Outside of academics, I am passionate about music. I have taught myself both guitar and drums, and I actively play drums at my church. Teaching myself instruments has strengthened my patience, discipline, and ability to break down complex skills into simple, manageable steps, which is something I bring into my tutoring.

I genuinely enjoy working with younger students and connecting with them through different subjects and interests. Over the past several years, I have participated in multiple summer camps where I worked closely with children. These experiences helped me develop strong communication skills and taught me how to simplify concepts, so they are clear and easy to understand.

About the lesson

I offer clear, confidence-building French tutoring for middle school students who are just starting out. As a French immersion student for the past six years with consistent 90+ grades, I understand exactly what teachers expect and where students often struggle.

My approach is simple yet effective: break concepts down step-by-step, practice together, and build confidence through repetition and real examples. I focus on making grammar easy to understand instead of overwhelming students with memorization.

A typical lesson includes a quick review, one focused on concept, personalized practice, and short speaking activities to build confidence.

What sets me apart is that I am actively in the immersion system during high school right now. I know the curriculum well, test formats, and how to succeed. My goal isn’t just better grades but helping students feel confident in their approach to a new language.

Lessons are ideal for beginner and early immersion middle school students who need help with grammar, vocabulary, homework, or test prep.
