About Francisco

Hi there! My name is Francisco, I am from Spain, but have been living in Ireland for over 10 years. I was awarded my BA (Hons) in English Philology by the University of Cádiz (Spain), and my MA and PhD in Medieval English Literature by NUI Galway (now University of Galway). Over the last few years, I have taught various second- and final-year modules and seminars and acted as first-year tutor for the Discipline of English at the University of Galway. Whether you’re an English student struggling with specific subjects, or you’d like to improve your academic writing and general study and research skills, I’m here to help you achieve your goals in a friendly, supportive, and stress-free environment.

About the lesson

Tutoring experience:

I have helped students from all backgrounds and levels with their academic needs, from students encountering academic English for the first time to postgraduate researchers seeking assistance with effective research and communication skills. I provide tutoring for a broad range of specific needs: note-taking and time management, critical thinking and reading skills, academic writing, essay preparation, proofreading and feedback, or just learning support for specific subjects.
I have taught in the Irish third-level education system for seven years and have always been successful in helping my students find the best strategies to express themselves effectively in formal academic English, achieve a solid command of module contents, and improve their overall academic performance.

Approach to grinds:

I offer you an entirely tailored learning experience: these are your grinds, and they need to adapt to your needs and goals. Getting to know my students is crucial for me, as their interests, expectations, and previous experience will determine my approach to teaching and the learning strategy we will adopt. College is an exciting experience, but it can also get a little overwhelming at times. As an academic coach, I’m here to help you deal with the challenges that come with navigating third-level education, from managing tight deadlines to coping with stress and mastering multitasking. If you’re just starting college and are feeling a bit lost, we’ll find out what learning method works best for you; if you’re a seasoned student, we’ll find new and exciting challenges to keep you motivated as you hone your skills. Whether you need help with your essays and exams, have to write a longer dissertation piece, or would like to improve your academic skills, you will get personalised grinds to help you reach your goals in your own time and with no added pressure.
