About Magdalena

I’m a linguist and researcher who has spent most of my life in academic settings, and I’m still very much part of that world. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to learn from many teachers, colleagues, and students, and I’ve come to see passing knowledge on as one of the most meaningful things we can do.

I genuinely enjoy helping people understand something that once felt difficult or out of reach. We all need to grow in one way or another, and teaching and learning are two sides of that process. For me, tutoring is not just about getting through an assignment or passing an exam; it’s about helping someone become more confident, curious, and independent in the way they think. I believe that this kind of independence makes people more successful in whatever they choose to do, because they learn how to approach problems, ask better questions, and trust their own judgement.

About the lesson

Language is everywhere: in words, conversations, texts, patterns, and even in the way computers process information. In my lessons, I help students understand how language works, what its structure looks like, and how we can analyse it, from core linguistic concepts to computational modelling and formal analysis. I also support students with thesis writing, critical thinking, structuring arguments, and developing clear research questions. For students interested in computational linguistics, I can introduce basic Python and show how programming can be used to analyse language data and build simple models.

I like to work with students by starting from what they already know and building from there. We can slow down and unpack difficult ideas, work through examples together, or focus on a specific assignment or research problem. My aim is to make the material feel manageable and to help you become more confident explaining your ideas and working through problems on your own.
