About Nara

I am a Philosopher and have studied Philosophy of Language for years, in my master's and doctorate, at the University of São Paulo. The philosophy I defend is that the meaning of language depends on the use, use of words, phrases and expressions, but also on intonation, gestures, circumstances! In addition, language is often constructed to blocks with predetermined structures that can be easily identified. During my doctoral and postdoctoral studies I had the opportunity to live abroad, both in the United States and in England, so I had several experiences with the language and did numerous courses both in Brazil and abroad: reading, writing academic, grammar, oral presentation, conversation and also I prepared for the TOEFL. I am very happy to be able to help those who want to venture into the English language!

About the lesson

My teaching method is by immersion. After much theory in language use I had the incredible experience of studying German at a language school in Germany, where the Professor only spoke German in the room from the beginning! At first I was scared because I did not understand much of anything, but when I needed it, he spoke in English, so I became more confident! After a few months I was sure: this is the best method! The repeated phrases all the classes are getting in the head and we are associating directly with the context, without needing that anchor of vocabulary translation all the time! Of course it is necessary to know the translation, but it is better to learn by using and solidify with the translation than to stick with those exhaustive memorizing tasks! So my teaching method is based on this, on language tasks, explanations and conversations mostly in English! But always with the '_Socorro option, I do not understand anything! Speak in Portuguese!' ;-)
