About Kathleen
I am currently a PhD. student in English with a focus on literature and folklore, however—not to worry!—I have a much broader range in terms of genre, mechanics, and writing (both academic and creative). The end goal after I obtain my Doctorate is to teach at the university level, but I consider learning at every level to be of utmost importance. Before starting my current degree, I obtained a Masters of Library and Information Sciences, where I honed my skills with research and accessible information dissemination. I am therefore more than capable of assisting with research and building research skills. My B.A. is in English literature and language, history of art, and women/gender studies and I am able to move between disciplines fluidly and can teach you to do the same (it’s easier than you might think!). As mentioned previously, I have experience teaching at different levels of skill and education and have taught online with digitally-based tools. I am easy to get a hold of and happy to work around your schedule to ensure that you as the student are most comfortable and accommodated; learning is easiest and most fun when you’re at ease, after all! Each of my lessons are personalized to meet a student’s needs. I have taught and tutored at various education and skill levels (including university and high school levels) and am experienced in providing digitally-based/online education. With extremely flexible hours, I am excited to work with everyone and anyone! Again, lesson plans will be tailored to your specific learning style (visual, oral, written, combinations—whatever works for you!). We can plan together how you want to learn and how far in advance you would like lessons to be planned out.
