About Vjeran

I’m a practising conceptual artist with a 10+ year automatic drawing practice, so I understand the creative process from the inside - not just as theory. This helps when working with students exploring philosophy of art, aesthetics, or using creative practice as a way of thinking.

I’m neurodiverse (ADHD) and have worked extensively with neurodivergent learners. I know firsthand the challenges of academic environments that aren’t designed for how our minds work, and I specialise in finding approaches that actually work rather than forcing you into methods that don’t fit.

I hold an enhanced PVG disclosure (required for my volunteer work with young people in Scotland) and have professional experience in medical education roleplay, teaching complex communication skills.

Currently based in Glasgow, I’m happy to meet students at public locations like libraries or cafes for in-person sessions, or work online via video call. I respond to inquiries within 24 hours and can usually accommodate lesson requests within the same week.

My teaching philosophy:
Everyone can think philosophically—it’s not about memorising names and dates, it’s about developing your own capacity to analyse, question, and construct arguments. I’m here to guide that process, not to perform expertise at you.

I work with adults who want to develop critical thinking skills, improve academic writing, or explore philosophy as a tool for understanding themselves and the world. My approach is conversational and inquiry-based rather than lecture-style—we explore ideas together through discussion, questions, and practical exercises.

My background:
MA in Philosophy and Art from California State University Long Beach, BA in Philosophy and Museum Studies from University of Zagreb. I have over 20 years of teaching experience across universities, community settings, and one-on-one tutoring in three languages (English, Croatian, Spanish).

What makes my teaching different:
I understand how neurodivergent minds work - I have ADHD myself and specialise in supporting students who struggle with traditional academic environments. I help with essay structure, research skills, exam preparation, and building confidence in philosophical thinking.

Lesson structure:
Sessions are typically 60 minutes. We can work on specific assignments, explore philosophical questions, or develop your critical thinking skills through structured practice. I adapt each session to your learning style and goals.

Who this is for:
Adults at any level - whether you’re a university student needing support with philosophy coursework, someone preparing for postgraduate study, or simply curious about philosophical ideas and want a guide.
