  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

My passion for philosophy started when I was just 12 years old. I found myself more curious than my peers, fascinated by the world and convinced there was more to life than the mundane or the 'rat race.' This curiosity led me to read everything I could-on religion, history, politics, and psychology-trying to understand how brilliant minds approached life's big questions.

When I began formally studying philosophy in high school, I immediately fell in love with it. The subject captivated me in ways no other field had, and that passion only grew as I went on to complete a Bachelor's and Master's in Honours Philosophy. Now, I'm on my way to finishing a PhD, continuing to explore and deepen my understanding of philosophy.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

What makes me passionate about philosophy is how it shapes the way we see and interact with the world. At the heart of every worldview is a person's philosophical outlook, which influences everything they do. With the limited time we have, I strongly believe the most important thing we can do is learn from the wisdom that different philosophical traditions have uncovered in their search for truth.

I teach philosophy because I want to help others discover these perspectives and develop their own understanding of life. It's more than just a subject-it's a journey that I love guiding my students through.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

I love tutoring because it allows me to relive the excitement of discovery through my students' curiosity. When I had the opportunity to be a teaching assistant during my undergraduate and graduate studies, I realized how fulfilling it was to witness students engage with complex ideas for the first time. Philosophy isn't something meant to be studied in isolation; it thrives on discussion, debate, and the challenge of different perspectives in the search for truth and wonder.

One of my favorite experiences was holding office hours with students who shared my love for philosophy. Those conversations were where I felt most in sync with my purpose-helping others uncover their own philosophical insights and guiding them through those 'awe' moments. That's what makes tutoring so special for me, and why I strive to be a "Superprof"-I'm here not just to teach, but to inspire and engage in this shared journey of learning.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

Absolutely. My philosophy and ethics professor, Dr. Peetush, was an eccentric man and a major inspiration throughout my journey. He was full of energy and always found creative ways to engage us, whether it was jumping on tables or passionately shouting to emphasize a point. His excitement for philosophy was contagious, and he used every class to show us how powerful and transformative philosophical thinking can be.

Dr. Peetush also taught me the importance of having a position and truly believing in something. He encouraged us not just to understand our views, but to stand by them and fight for what we believe in. With his background in mathematics, engineering, and music, he constantly reminded us that all roads lead to philosophy-and I couldn't agree more. His influence has deeply shaped how I view and teach the subject today, and his passion still inspires me to share that same love for philosophy with my students.
  • What are your keys to success?

My key to success is to remain curious and never let the world dim the awe and beauty we once experienced as children. As we grow up, it's all too easy to stop being inspired and to stop questioning. Even after studying philosophy in school, I believe it's essential not to let that be the endpoint of your philosophical journey.

Instead, live philosophy. Incorporate it into your daily life, engage in discussions about it, and, most importantly, share its value with those around you. By doing so, we ensure that the spirit of wisdom continues to thrive, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the world we live in. Let that be one thing you carry with you on your amazing journey!
