About Matthew
I am an award winning tutor who Bachelors in Biology at Cornell University graduating with a 3.7 GPA before entering medical school at University of Wisconsin and matching into Ophthalmology. I want to share my experience of going through high school, undergraduate, and then the medical school process with matching into a competitive specialty to help you achieve your goals.
My studying approach has earned me scores of 5's on the AP biology, physics, and chemistry exams, 2300 on the SAT, 520 on the MCAT, and >90th percentile on the USMLEs. Although standardized tests like the AP's, SAT, MCAT, or USMLEs can be daunting, there are many strategies that we can use and work on together to get your score to where you want it! Tests aren't easy for anyone. Whether the hardest part of tests for you is subject matter knowledge, timing, anxiety, or a unique personal situation, I've either been there myself or helped someone to overcome their struggles. There is no issues that can't be overcome!
I have tutored in physics, biology, and chemistry for years and won an award for tutoring physics at Cornell University. These experiences have helped me find out which topics students struggle with and the most efficient and fun ways to teach them.

To ensure your success, I will invest time in understanding your individual preferences and where you struggle whether in knowledge, endurance, or test taking strategies. By tailoring my teaching methods to your specific needs, I can create an optimal learning environment that maximizes your strengths, accelerates your progress, and fosters a deep understanding of the subject matter. I've found the best way for students to learn is through relating new information to the basics and building from there. A typical lesson could be as follows:
-Talk about what areas you have been struggling with
-Have you do a few practice questions and see what went well and what went poorly
-Debrief on what we should focus on for you to excel (More foundational knowledge, exam timing, reading questions carefully, etc...)
-Do a few practice questions together and talk about the process as we go.
-Make a plan for you to study and prepare between sessions
