About Jovie

I hold a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and a Master of Music in Music Pedagogy, with 9 years of experience teaching students at varying skill levels. My approach combines structured technical training with opportunities for creativity and improvisation. I design lessons to include exercises, repertoire, sight-reading, ensemble work, and performance coaching, helping students progress steadily while building musical confidence.

I emphasize hand technique, finger independence, scales, chords, dynamics, phrasing, and expressive interpretation. Lessons are personalized, with constructive feedback and supportive guidance to help each student reach their potential. I aim to nurture not just skills, but also creativity, discipline, and expressive confidence.

Beyond teaching, I actively perform, study new repertoire, and explore contemporary pedagogical methods to bring fresh perspectives into my lessons. Witnessing students grow into confident, expressive musicians is deeply fulfilling. My mission is to combine mastery, artistry, and passion, guiding students to enjoy every step of their piano journey.

About the lesson

Piano lessons are most effective when students develop technical proficiency alongside expressive musicality. I focus on hand technique, finger independence, reading fluency, scales, chord progressions, improvisation, sight-reading, and ensemble collaboration. Lessons are carefully structured to balance exercises, repertoire, creative exploration, and performance practice, fostering confidence in solo and group settings. My aim is to create a welcoming and motivating environment where students can explore musical ideas while steadily improving technical skills and expressive abilities.

Beginners focus on establishing correct posture, finger placement, simple scales, basic chords, rhythm exercises, and introductory pieces. Intermediate learners advance to more complex fingering, phrasing, dynamics, expressive interpretation, and ensemble playing. Advanced learners refine advanced repertoire, pedal techniques, intricate sight-reading, performance presence, and expressive nuance. Every session integrates explanations, practical exercises, and guided practice to ensure consistent growth in both technical and artistic skills.

Beyond technique, piano study develops concentration, discipline, emotional expression, and collaborative abilities. Students gain confidence performing for others, interpreting music creatively, and understanding theory in practice. My goal is to cultivate technical mastery, musical interpretation, and lifelong appreciation for piano as both an instrument and a form of personal expression.
