About Willa

I hold a Bachelor’s in Music Performance and a Master’s in Piano Pedagogy, with 8 years of experience teaching students of all levels. My teaching philosophy blends technical rigor with creative exploration, ensuring each student develops both skill and expressive confidence. I emphasize individualized guidance, making each lesson responsive to the learner’s pace, goals, and learning style.

In lessons, I focus on finger independence, technique, sight-reading, interpretation, improvisation, and ensemble performance. I provide structured exercises, demonstrations, and personalized feedback while encouraging experimentation and self-expression. My goal is to foster both technical proficiency and musical artistry.

Beyond teaching, I actively engage in performance, study of diverse repertoires, and music pedagogy research. This enriches my instruction and allows me to bring fresh ideas into the classroom. Witnessing students gain confidence, skill, and joy in music is deeply rewarding. I am dedicated to nurturing capable, expressive, and motivated pianists who enjoy every step of their musical journey.

About the lesson

Piano lessons thrive when students experience both technical skill-building and creative exploration. My sessions combine finger independence exercises, scales, arpeggios, sight-reading, and rhythm practice with improvisation, interpretation, and expressive performance. Students develop musical fluency gradually, while also gaining confidence in performing alone or with others. Lessons emphasize clarity, patience, and enjoyment, making learning both structured and engaging.

Beginners start with basic posture, note reading, rhythm accuracy, and simple melodies. Intermediate learners expand their skills with more complex pieces, hands-together coordination, phrasing, and dynamic expression. Advanced students focus on nuanced interpretation, complex repertoire, duet and ensemble playing, performance preparation, and technical refinement. Every lesson incorporates exercises, demonstrations, feedback, and practice strategies to support continuous growth.

Beyond technique, piano lessons nurture musicality, self-expression, and listening skills. Students learn to interpret compositions emotionally, play with confidence, and enjoy their musical journey. My aim is to create a supportive environment where learners feel encouraged to experiment, explore, and progress steadily.
