About Nia

I have been teaching piano for nine years, inspired by a lifelong passion for music. I work with learners of all ages, tailoring lessons to individual goals and skill levels. Teaching allows me to combine structured technique, creative exploration, and personalised guidance, helping students grow both musically and personally. I emphasise patience, clarity, and adaptability, blending technical exercises with repertoire practice, improvisation, and interpretive projects. Lessons focus on technique, sight-reading, phrasing, and expression while encouraging confidence and creativity. I create an environment that fosters motivation, curiosity, and meaningful progress. Outside teaching, I perform, compose, and explore various musical genres to continually expand my perspective and inspire students. Witnessing learners evolve from beginners to confident, expressive pianists capable of performing and interpreting music is deeply rewarding. Helping students achieve technical mastery, artistic expression, and a lifelong connection to music remains the foundation of my teaching philosophy.

About the lesson

My piano lessons focus on cultivating both technical skill and musical expression, providing students with a structured and motivating learning experience. Lessons include exercises in scales, finger technique, sight-reading, and repertoire, combined with creative projects and improvisation. I aim to balance technical mastery with artistry, encouraging students to connect emotionally with the music and develop their own unique interpretation. Each session is structured to support progress while fostering curiosity and enjoyment. Beginners learn hand positioning, basic scales, reading music, and simple pieces. Intermediate learners refine phrasing, dynamics, pedalling, and expand their repertoire. Advanced students tackle complex pieces, improvisation, and performance preparation. Assignments include technical exercises, listening tasks, repertoire practice, and creative projects to ensure consistent improvement. Lessons are tailored to individual goals and learning styles, promoting both skill development and musical engagement. Students gain technical proficiency, artistic expression, and performance confidence. Many perform in recitals, collaborate in ensembles, compose original music, or pursue personal projects. Piano study strengthens discipline, focus, creativity, and emotional awareness, extending benefits beyond music. My aim is to help learners cultivate mastery, artistry, and a lifelong love of music, empowering them to explore, interpret, and share music confidently and expressively.
