About Astrid
Picking up the guitar at age 8 started a long path that led me to earning a BMus Jazz Guitar degree from the University of North Texas. Since then, I have spent 10 years playing in blues and rock bands across the East Coast. Teaching shifted from a side job to the best part of my week.
Helping beginners and intermediate players escape pentatonic jail remains a primary focus of my work. My daily life involves steady gigging and sharing those real world insights with others. I genuinely enjoy the process of turning musical concepts into actual songs that resonate with people.

Starting with a practice module in every lesson ensures that you keep your momentum throughout the week. You will find that barre chords, strumming patterns, and music theory become much easier when connected to the songs you enjoy.
My background in jazz and blues performance informs how I teach lead guitar, rhythm guitar, and fingerpicking techniques. Grade exam prep and work on scales and modes are also integrated into our time together. We keep things practical so that your acoustic technique improves without losing the spark of the music. You will walk away from this ready to play with more confidence and style.
