About Sola

I value freedom and creativity as well as a real connection! Haha, that's why I dropped out of college in Korea because I did not want to be captured by the institution without knowing what I really wanted to do in the future.

When you get taught by me, I won't be a tutor, but I will be a recognizer who sees what your strengths and weaknesses in playing piano are. Because everyone has different skills and abilities. I realized that the real teacher is to know how to notice students' strengths and encourage them to use them based on their own personality and character. For those reasons, I would like to teach kids because they are like a sponge to grasp knowledge and emit their creativity with the instrument.

However, it needs a process to cultivate its knowledge. Just as we can't ride a bicycle without effort, we must take time with a lot of patience to see the real improvement. Furthermore, playing piano is not only a resource for creativity but also a method to express their thought and emotions. For example, when I taught 8 8-year-old boy, he was crying while playing piano and it turned out he had an argument with his friend at school. I gave him time and talked with his parents. Because I know kids need parents' compliments, encouragement, and love. As far as I have taught kids, it was their big motivation. Thus, I would love to focus on having a real connection to work on the process with kids and parents too.

*Why do I want to teach?

I believe that human beings are meant to be creative. When I was in Korea, I focused on studying for a prestigious college. After I moved to the U.S., I realized it was wrong. I concluded the meaning of life is to be creative with my talents. After pondering what I am great about, I found I could improvise a song and play piano creatively, expressing deep emotions through musical instruments. In addition, when I taught a kid, I was very happy to see his improvement. I would like to share my experience with people who want to learn piano! I believe everyone can do it!

*How do I want to teach?

1. I do use only paper textbooks. I do not use iPads to teach people.
2. I would prefer to have an in-person class because my main purpose is not to make money but to share and encourage people.
3. I would like to teach beginners or kids because they are the ones who can develop their skills enormously!
4. I would mainly teach piano notes & how to read code at the same time.

*What do I have?

1. I value a real connection when I teach people.
2. I don't have a fancy degree. But, I have been playing piano at church for 10 years haha.
3. I recently got 4th prize in the international music award with my song!
4. I have my own songs on Spotify! I started improvising songs for people whom I love and it's been my happiness since then by watching how they feel special.
This is the link on Spotify!

5. Playing the piano has to be the way to express one's emotion with joy :)
