About Camilla
Hi! I'm an incoming History student at the University of Oxford, having achieved 44 points (all 7s) in the IB and 12 grade 9s at GCSE. I was accepted to all five of my UCAS choices, including Oxford, LSE, and UCL.
I was also Economics Section Editor at Harbingers' Magazine, an online youth newsroom, where I wrote 13 published articles and edited 25 more, trained by professional journalists in writing and editing technique. My essay writing was highly commended at Oxford's Julia Wood Essay Competition. I've also competed at national level in debating, reaching the final round of Team England selection.
I'm patient, encouraging, and genuinely enjoy helping students find confidence in their own writing and thinking, whether that means pushing for the top grade or rebuilding confidence from scratch.

My approach is built on clarity, understanding, and confidence. Humanities subjects often feel harder to revise than maths or sciences because the skills seem less concrete. That's why I focus on making essay writing and historical analysis feel like a learnable technique. I break arguments into clear, repeatable structures (thesis, evidence, analysis, evaluation) and use past papers and mark schemes to show exactly what earns marks at each grade boundary.
For History, I focus on source analysis, building well-evidenced arguments, and tackling causation and interpretation questions. For essay writing more broadly, I focus on structuring arguments, integrating evidence smoothly, and editing for precision.
Lesson length: Typically 1 hour, which I find is enough to properly work through a topic or piece of writing. Happy to discuss longer sessions for essay-marking or exam prep closer to deadlines.
Who I teach: GCSE and IB History and essay writing, plus IB-level essay technique across other subjects. I'm also happy to advise on UK university admissions. I work equally well with confident students aiming for top grades and students who need to rebuild confidence from the ground up.
