My Approach to Tutoring
I teach in a calm, structured and student‑centred way, focusing on helping Nat 5 learners build confidence through clear explanations and steady progress. I break topics down into manageable parts and guide students through them step by step, making sure they fully understand the content before moving on. My lessons balance teaching, discussion and exam practice so students learn how to apply their knowledge effectively.
Techniques and Teaching Methodology
My teaching is rooted in clarity, patience and exam awareness. I use real past papers and marking schemes to help students understand what examiners look for, and I model strong essay structures so they can see how high‑quality answers are built. Lessons often include guided note‑taking, discussion of key themes, and practice questions that develop both knowledge and technique. I adapt my approach to each student’s pace, strengths and areas for improvement, creating a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas.
Typical Lesson Length
Most lessons last one hour, which allows enough time to cover content, practise exam skills and review progress. Longer sessions can be arranged for students who prefer extended revision or more intensive exam preparation.
Qualifications and Experience
I teach Modern Studies, History and RMPS. I achieved A grades in Nat 5 Modern Studies and Nat 5 History, an A and a B in Higher History, an A in Advanced Higher History, and A grades in both Higher and Advanced Higher RMPS. I am now a second‑year Politics student at the University of Stirling, which strengthens my understanding of political systems, global issues, ethics and philosophy. This academic background directly supports the subjects I teach and allows me to give students deeper context and clearer explanations.
