About Andrew
When I was at school, I always wanted to become a teacher, but I didn’t ask for the support I needed at the time and I underachieved. That experience stayed with me and made me determined to return to education later in life. I came back through a SWAP course at West College Scotland, and I’m now studying Primary Education at the University of Strathclyde. Alongside my studies, I also work part-time as an Additional Support Needs Assistant, which has given me valuable experience in adapting learning to suit each child’s individual needs. Because I know what it feels like to struggle, I’m passionate about helping pupils realise that they can succeed with the right guidance. My goal is to make learning supportive, enjoyable, and motivating, so that children not only make progress but also believe in themselves.

Hello! I’m a Primary Education student at the University of Strathclyde, training to become a fully qualified teacher. I have experience supporting children in classrooms and small groups, and I’m passionate about helping pupils build confidence and enjoy learning. I also have four years' experience as an ASN assistant prior to/alongside my degree so am comfortable working with students with a variety of additional support needs. I have also done two years of history at university as an elective so can help support high school level history students! I offer tailored lessons in: • English / Literacy – reading skills, writing, grammar, and comprehension • Maths / Numeracy – number work, problem solving, times tables, fractions, and confidence-building activities • History – support for school projects, understanding topics, and developing critical thinking My approach is patient, encouraging, and flexible. I adapt sessions to each learner’s needs, whether they need help with homework, exam preparation, or boosting general skills. I know how stressful school can feel sometimes, so I always keep lessons supportive, positive, and enjoyable.
