About Sera

I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada and have degree in Nutrition and Food. However, after working abroad I decided to peruse a teaching career at Cardiff Met University. Whilst completing my teaching degree in Cardiff, I have had placements at two primary schools in Cardiff and have gained a lot of practical experience in a variety of primary subjects. Before that, I have had experience working abroad in Spain and in Turkey at summer camps with the purpose of improving children's English. These experiences have further sparked my interest in teaching English as a foreign langauge so I am also currently undertaking my TEFL certification. In addition to working abroad, I have worked in various positions at community centers in my hometown Toronto teaching science, drama and art to children aged 3-7 years old. I cannot wait to help students and enhance their skills by using effective methods of teaching tailored for each of their needs!
I have had a variety of experiences locally and internationally teaching children ages ranging anywhere between 3 to 16 years old. My expertise is in teaching a variety of primary level subjects such as English, Maths and Science. I am also confident in my knowledge of most biology topics within the high school curriculum. During my sessions I hope to tailor each lesson to meet the needs of my learner. I will do this by preparing lessons on topics within the subject that may be challenging from the learner, help understand and complete homework tasks, or even buy specific workbooks related to specific topics. My purpose as a tutor is to help learners set targets and to make sure they reach their goals in a variety of fun, engaging and informative ways. Not only do I want my learners to reach their goals but I also want them to gain confidence in themselves to eventually overcome other challenges independently that they may face in their future academics. I will be there for support and to provide my knowledge and expertise to the best of my ability!

About the lesson

My method of teaching is online and I will be using my own teaching resources from the curriculum and workbooks related to the subject of interest. I can teach all primary school subjects, as well as GCSE level Biology and English.
