About Sophie

I’m a warm, patient and encouraging tutor who loves helping children discover that learning can be enjoyable. I believe every child learns differently, so I take the time to understand what works for them and create a relaxed, supportive environment where they can ask questions, make mistakes and build confidence.

I’m passionate about helping children recognise their strengths and celebrate their progress, however small. My aim is not only to support children with their schoolwork, but to help them develop the confidence and curiosity to become enthusiastic, independent learners.

I bring a thoughtful, professional and reliable approach to every lesson, while keeping sessions friendly, engaging and age-appropriate.

About the lesson

Hi everyone,

My name is Sophie and I take a warm, encouraging and flexible approach to tutoring. I want children to feel comfortable, curious and confident, and to see learning as something they can enjoy rather than something they have to be perfect at.

I adapt each lesson to the child in front of me - their interests, personality, confidence and the areas they need support with. I use a mixture of conversation, questioning, games, practical activities and clear explanations to keep children engaged and help them understand things rather than simply memorising them.

I’m also a big believer in celebrating small steps and helping children recognise what they can do. If something feels tricky, we break it down together and find a way in that makes sense to them. My aim is that children finish a lesson feeling proud of their progress and a little more confident than when they started.

Lessons are typically 45 minutes, although I’m happy to adapt this depending on the child’s age, concentration and individual needs.

I have a primary teaching degree, alongside experience and a strong interest in learning, creativity and personal development. I particularly enjoy helping children discover what they are good at and encouraging their natural curiosity.

My lessons are aimed at primary-aged children, and I’m happy to support with general schoolwork, specific areas your child might be finding challenging, or simply building confidence and enjoyment in learning.
