About Jonny

I am a professional 3D artist with a Bachelor's Degree in Interactive Entertainment. I have been using 3DS Max for over 10 years and currently work as an Art Director/ Lead Artist at a VR Game Studio. In previous studios I have worked on 7 released mobile titles, with cumulative millions of downloads on the iOS and Google Play stores. I have also worked in the architecture/ civil engineering and product rendering industry with extensive experience using V-Ray and now Arnold. Throughout my time as an artist, I have picked up many tips and tricks that can speed up workflows to help deliver projects swiftly and accurately. I have always loved teaching my coworkers new techniques and look forward to helping others learn more. I also run my own small business - Jixal Boxx, providing 3D content for a variety of clients. A special section of this business is delivering projection-mapped visualizations on large stages for both national and international artists. My portfolio/ website - (concealed information)

About the lesson

When teaching a student I believe it is important to create a fundamental understanding of 3D whilst also incorporating standard industry workflows and best practices. Using agile teaching methods to build a solid foundation in 3D, my aim is to give students the confidence to comfortably use all the tools at their disposal and allow the focus to be on art and design and not get caught in endless technical problem solving. I can take you through the whole pipeline process for either games or photoreal rendering; from briefing to final delivery of a complex project, utilizing multiple programs, scripts, and plugins to create high-quality 3D art.
