About Haydn
Hi! I'm Haydn and I am a professional Cellist, Teacher, Arranger, Composer and Songwriter. I play as part of a professional classical quartet as well as in multiple bands across London and further afield. I have extensive studio experience, playing on soundtracks for film and for popular music as well. I often write for these projects myself as off the stage I am an arranger/songwriter/composer.
Having spent my entire life playing music I understand the magic that proficiency in an instrument holds. I am drawn to teaching because playing the cello has brought me immense joy over the years and that's a feeling i'd love to share with others.

As a musician who enjoys a portfolio career across multiple genres including classical, rock, pop, jazz and folk; my teaching is never one size fits all. I am equally at home teaching ABRSM for students who are interested in graded exams as well as more mature learners who are looking to gain proficiency in order to join local orchestras and string groups. As a professional arranger, I am happy to tailor lessons to the pupil's interests by bringing contemporary music into the classroom.
My typical lessons are anything between 30 mins and an hour which varies depending on the age, experience and needs of the pupil.
As a cellist I have a BMUS Hons (first class) degree from RWCMD as well as a Masters degree (distinction) from the Royal Academy of Music. I have been teaching both privately and within the public education system since moving to London in 2019. I am happy to teach both in person and remotely if needed.
I am a musician who enjoys variety so all ages, skill sets and backgrounds are welcome!

Deadly! Haydn is an excellent teacher! In only a few lessons he has built a great rapport with my daughter (who is a beginner), enthused her about playing the cello and taught her so much. He is observant, pin-pointing areas that need attention in a fun and light-hearted way. I would highly recommend him.
